The new New Orleans: 30 years of Gambit

As we began to trace "The New New Orleans," we went back and leafed through 30 years of Gambit. What we found — besides a lot of hilarious fashion and hairstyles — was a city with many of the same endemic problems today as it had in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Wrangles over public housing, troubles in the New Orleans Police Department and the ever-looming specter of violent crime are still with us, as they were 30 years ago.
