New Orleans: Super Bowl LII hosts?

To celebrate the city's tricentennial, the New Orleans Saints and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation have announced they're throwing their name in the hat for the hosting gig for Super Bowl LII in 2018. It would be the city's 11th time hosting the game.

In a statement, Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation president Jay Cicero said, “New Orleans’ reputation as a Super Bowl host is second to none. We are excited to begin the official bid process to showcase our city’s unique culture, spirit and love of major events once again to the NFL."

The bid process concludes in May 2014 when host cities make their pitch to the 32 NFL owners. Among the other city finalists: Miami, Dallas, Minneapolis, Indianapolis and Tampa. New Orleans, Indianapolis and Minneapolis are the final three in the running.
