Blue Nile reopens this weekend

Frenchmen Street staple the Blue Nile (532 Frenchmen St., 504- 948-2583) will celebrate its 10th anniversary this weekend when it reopens following a summer of renovations. The venue reopens with a stacked lineup to celebrate:

On Friday, Sept. 6, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers perform at 7 p.m., the beginning of a monthly residence for the band. At 11 p.m., catch Galactic's Stanton Moore and special guests. At midnight in the Balcony Room, it's The Return of DJ Real and Black Pearl.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, Washboard Chaz Trio performs at 7 p.m., and Eric Lindell performs at 11 p.m. In the Balcony Room, Soul Project performs at 9 p.m.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, Mykia Jovan performs at 7 p.m., and the To Be Continued Brass Band performs at 10 p.m., which will hold down the Brass Band Social residency for Sundays in September.

Chris Mule & the Perpetrators hold down a monthly residence at 10 p.m. Wednesdays in September, while at 11 p.m. Thursdays, the popular reggae night resumes.

Other artists performing at the venue this fall include Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes, Sept. 13; Brass-A-Holics, Sept. 14; Corey Henry, Sept. 21; Big Sam's Funky Nation, Sept. 27; and Flow Tribe, Oct. 5.
