Listen: Gambit's free music Friday

New Orleans supergroup Sweet Crude combines Cajun French lyrics with whimsical indie-pop, coming from the harmony-loving, multi-instrumental members of Alexis & The Samurai and Big Rock Candy Mountain, among others. The band debuted a new track, "Hornet's Nest," streamable here. Sweet Crude performs at 9 p.m. tonight at Tipitina's with Cajun mammoths Lost Bayou Ramblers and ecstatic guitar and drum duo Caddywhompus.

At 9 p.m. tonight at Carrollton Station, last year's Music Issue breakout ensemble Vox & The Hound headline — stream its debut album Courage here and its companion EP Cowards here. Also on the bill is Community Records' punk rock supergroup All People, whose debut Communicate is available for free download here. This is All People's kickoff for its summer-long tour — via a veggie oil powered van, thanks to Kickstarter.

At 10 p.m. Saturday at One Eyed Jacks, West Bank MCs Ballzack and Odoms present Ace and Ernie, the duo's goofball metalhead alter egos, whose album is streaming here. Below, watch the cut-off denim and wristcuff filled video for "Backwards":
