Preview: Community Records' Block Party 2013

For its 2013 street festival Block Party, local independent record label Community Records assembled more than 20 bands to perform on its two stages in- and outside 3 Ring Circus' The Big Top Gallery on Clio Street. The all-ages fest, founded in 2008, features artists from the Community Records roster of punk rock and ska bands, as well as touring acts, including Asian Man Records founder Mike Park and MU330's Dan Potthast.

Local artists on the bill include maximum pop duo Caddywhompus, Community Records supergroup All People, Big Easy-nominated electronic outfit Whom Do You Work For?, and pop punks Donovan Wolfington, who use the fest to launch their album release — you can stream or download Stop Breathing here.

The 2013 Block Party begins noon Saturday, April 13 and wraps up around midnight. Tickets are $15 at the door, $13 in advance or with donation of food or clothing for the New Orleans Mission. There also is a free pre-show at 7 p.m. tonight at Banks Street Bar featuring Matt Wixson’s Flying Circus, Informant, Sons of Odin, I'm Fine and New Lands.
