Three Film Festival lagniappe screenings are scheduled for tonight



The 23rd Annual New Orleans Fim Festival drew to a close last night but the movies continue. Tonight, Friday, October 19, the New Orleans Film Society will present three Festival lagniappe screenings at three different venues across New Orleans.

Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds will be shown at NOMA's Besthoff Sculpture garden beginning at 6:30/sundown. Blankets and chairs are recommended, but not outside food or drink. Vendors open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $3 for NOFS/NOMA members and $6 general admission. Children 17 and under are free. More Information here.

A free screening of documentary As Goes Janesville will be presented at 6 p.m. at the Ashe Cultural Arts Center. The film explores America's dwindling middle class. A moderated discussion will take place after the film. More info here.

The Talented Mr. Ripley will screen at the Prytania Theatre at midnight. A part of the Festival's keeping {SCORE} program, the screening celebrates the 10th anniversary of The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Irvin Mayfield will introduce the film and lead a live jazz performance starting at 11:45 p.m. Tickets are $11 child/senior, $12 college student, $13 adult. More info here.
