Washboard Chaz appears in a Playing for Change cover

Playing for Change was created in 2005 to spread a message of peace through music, particularly by street musicians from around the globe. It's perhaps best known for the video for "Stand by Me." Beginning in fall 2006, New Orleans' Grandpa Elliott became a notable contributor to appear in the foundation's music videos, and he's toured with the Playing for Change band. Last week, Playing for Change released the above video for a cover of the Rolling Stones' song "Gimme Shelter." It features a brief appearance by New Orleans' own Washboard Chaz. The video also mixes street musicians and some polished pros, including Taj Mahal, and it's an impressive acoustic version of the tune.
