The modern Jesus

When I was a child, I recall picture books about bible stories and later a complete bible for children with illustrations, but the Bible as a graphic novel was a new one. It’s a series, the Almighty Bible, that covers different books of the Bible.

Graphic novels can be fun, but a comic-book treatment of the Bible? The cover of Genesis, the first in the series, says it is the “history of the generations of the heavens and of the earth …” On the cover, Adam looks pretty buff and Eve appears to have had access to hair products. I can see the story of creation being interesting, but what about all the begatting? In Exodus, Moses looks more like Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings trilogy than the humble soldier of the lord that past movies and illustrations portrayed.

An app for the Almighty Bible series by Kevin O’Donnell, creator of the award-winning PBS series Liberty's Kids, and Dong Chung just became available for iPhones and iPads. I wonder if Jesus is on Twitter.
