"Treme" not eligible for Emmy music awards

HBO's Treme, on which many have remarked that music is its own character, won't be earning any music-related Emmy awards this year.

The show didn't enter into any music categories, and Variety reports that the show is not eligible for at least three of them anyway: the theme, John Boutte's infectious "Treme Song," was not specifically composed for the show, and the show has no dramatic underscore or music director (there is a music supervisor, Blake Leyh, who coordinates all the live performances filmed for the show, but there's no category for that). Leyh said there was a little bit of original music created for the show, but none has been entered.

Past nominees of Emmy music awards include Family Guy, Little People, Big World; The Mole (the reality show) and Desperate Housewives. Yup.
