Out now: Giant Cloud's "Old Books"

New Orleans-based indie label Park the Van kicked off its download-only Delicacies series this week, starting with Ruston, La., psych-folk outfit Giant Cloud. The band released its gorgeous four-song EP Old Books, featuring the cut "Rainbows," one of the 19 songs on our latest music compilation, Ear to the Ground: New Orleans. (It's free. You should download it.)

The EP was recorded at The Living Room, a beautiful 1930s Westbank home-turned-homage to analog. It's a warm building in a quiet neighborhood underneath the Crescent City Connection. I had a chance to explore its insides before it was finished in 2008, and as far as recording studios go, I've never felt a more alive — as in breathing, feeling, smelling — building. Giant Cloud (who just made the move from hometown Ruston to New Orleans) couldn't have picked a more welcoming spot, unless they could somehow rig a central Louisiana barn with recording equipment. Read Noah Bonaparte Pais' review of the EP here.

The label also released two Giant Cloud videos directed by Daryn DeLuco (see above). Hit the jump for No. 2.
