HECKUVA NEW JOB, BROWNIE: Michael Brown gets a new job as vice-president of disaster recovery practice for Colorado-based company Cold Creek Solutions:
"I've seen thousands of disasters, some where things work according to plan, and some where absolutely nothing works," Brown said in a statement. "What better person can a company talk to about those two extremes? Through these seminars and through my work with Cold Creek, I hope to impart a fresh perspective for businesses and their continuity plans."
Who better indeed to know about being up Cold Creek without a paddle? In any case, it's worth noting that his bio on the Cold Creek Web site doesn't mention Katrina, making only passing reference to "the unprecedented 2004-2005 hurricane seasons."
"A JOINT FILLED WITH MARIJUANA": Lil Wayne was profiled on VH1's Behind the Music last night. No big deal, except it's worth noting for this sentence:
With a joint filled with marijuana held in his left hand, Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) spoke about his rise out of hard-living and upgrading to the life of the wealthy.

The former Miss Louisiana Teen USA who was arrested last year on a marijuana possession charge and for skipping out on the bill at a Bossier City restaurant, is Playboys Playmate of the Month for October. The issue hits newsstands today.
STORY PITCH OF THE WEEK: We have been offered an interview with one Steve Dennis, author of the upcoming book Britney: Inside the Dream, a biography of Kentwood, La.'s favorite daughter. But it's not just any run-of-the-mill tawdry trash memoir:
The book offers a new twist to the biography genre as author Steve Dennis underwent therapy as Britney, so its in treatment meets biography.
Does Doug Brinkley know about this approach?
Real news later.
