The French Quarter restaurant Petunia's has closed its doors at 817 St. Louis St. after a quarter of a century in business.
The restaurant was best known for its crepes, including elaborate savory versions filled with seafood and sauces. The restaurant was in a three-story Creole townhouse just off Bourbon Street that dates to the 1830s.
The building was used as a home until the 1970s, when it became a restaurant called the St. Louis Street Crepe Shoppe. New management renamed the place Petunia's in 1984 but kept crepes as a centerpiece of an otherwise Creole-style menu.
The restaurant did a particularly strong brunch for many years, though more recently both food quality and service dropped off significantly.
