Gamblin' for Good

At 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, poker players can signup for the inaugural Monaghan-Koehlar "Water's Thicker than Blood" poker crawl. The crawl kicks off at 13 Monaghan (517 Frenchmen St.), where players will be dealt their first card, and then follow a bagpipes-lead second line with the Big Easy Roller Girls. The parade then stops at Molly's at the Market for card No. two, then receives their third and fourth cards at the Boondock Saint and BBC. Players then rejoin the parade and head to Erin Rose for the full hand.

Registration is $30 (and you a get a commemorative shirt) and players have a chance to win up to $500.

The poker game/parade is a tribute to the late Jim Monaghan Sr., whose flagship bar Molly's at the Market also is home to annual St. Patrick's Day parades.

The crawl benefits the Youth Rescue Initiative, founded last year by James Bernazzani. The initiative aims to empower at-risk youth and help improve quality of life in New Orleans.
