LSU/VA Hospital: No Business Plan Required

The Louisiana Legislature’s Education Committee today soundly defeated, 7 to 1, HB 780  that would have required the LSU Board of Supervisors to have an approved financial plan before purchasing land for the proposed LSU/VA Hospital in Mid-City. Rep. Rick Nowlin, R-Natchitoches sponsored the bill, which had passed the full House earlier this month.

A number of organizations, including Save Charity Hospital and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that have endorsed a competing plan to restore the old Charity Hospital had also supported Nowlin’s measure.
