Congratulations to Take Fo' - also, romance is in the air!

This past Sunday night, Take Fo' Records - New Orleans' original bounce label - celebrated 17 years in the game with a blowout extravaganza at the Cricket Club on St. Charles Avenue. Longtime Take Fo' artist (and reigning King of Bounce) DJ Jubilee was on the ones and twos, and the party, which was also a birthday celebration for label co-founder Eldon Anderson, was packed, with lines stretching out the door. The label relocated to Houston briefly after Katrina, so it's nice to see the veteran organization announce their definite return to the N.O.

And in other semi-related news, it was just announced today that original sissy rapper Katey Red, who released her classic albums Melpomene Block Party and Y2Katey: The Millennium Sissy on Take Fo', will be performing at One Eyed Jacks on Valentine's Day. Taking the stage with Katey will be the popular sissy rappers Big Freedia and Sissy Nobby, running partners whose friendship goes back to their days together in the Walter L. Cohen marching band baton and cheerleading squads. The gig marks Katey's ten-year anniversary in the rap game; it'll also be the trio's first show together in the French Quarter. We predict a very romantic night indeed.
