OK, This is Getting a Tad Ridiculous, No?

Jason David

First and foremost, you should know that this picture doesn't exist. No, not since the Saints have implemented their regular season policy which prohibits journalists from taking pictures of anything other than players stretching. Even though, as many were quick to point out today, we were allowed to take pictures as early as last week and the Saints are not doing any different drills than they have been since the start of training camp. But alas, I digress...

The real reason for this post is I've noticed people have been having a little fun with their gripes in regards to Jason David. And, I understand that, in this era of Fire(insert sports figure here).com's popping up everywhere, fans are quick to pounce on any fledgling athlete or coach. But I have to say this petition to get Jason David cut is a little bit absurd.

2008-08-17 21:17:02 Jason David should know when to call it quits.

Clearly, most of the 48 people that have signed the petition are having some fun with the whole thing. But I do worry about the few that seem to take this so seriously. Clearly, fans have not been happy with David since Week 1 of last year, but there has to be a better way to voice your concern to the organization other than cheeky signatures on an anonymous on-line petition. Besides, as you can tell from the green cap on David's helmet, the Saits coaching staff have him on the scout team and, presumably, haven't much faith left in him either.
