Local bloggers, big platform

Ever read The Rude Pundit? "Rude" isn't quite the word -- he makes George Carlin sound like a Carmelite nun -- but, dang, is he ever funny, and despite the fact that he's a Nor'easterner, his level of outrage at the "rebuilding" of New Orleans is pitched at permanent 11.

The Rude One goes on vacation Monday, and he's decided to turn over his popular blog for a week to a clutch of smart Netwriters from our fair parish....

Mon., July 28: Dangerblond of Dangerblond

Tue., July 29: Oyster of Your Right Hand Thief and Eli Ackerman of We Could Be Famous

Wed., July 30: G-Bitch of The G-Bitch Spot

Thu., July 31: Bigezbear of Bigezbear and Humid City and Lord David of Humid City

Fri., Aug. 1: Karen Gadbois of Squandered Heritage

That's quite a lineup of some of the city's best funny, fed-up bloggers, and it's great that their testimony will be getting wider attention. As the Rude Pundit notes:

Since Hurricane Katrina, these bloggers have been chronicling the ugliest sides of the corruption, ineptness, cruelty, and general f**ktardery of the city, state, and federal response to the waterboarding of New Orleans. And they also haven't given up on their city.

If you're tired of people discussing the survival of New Orleans from a false, media-driven left-right perspective, or tired of people discussing the survival of New Orleans like it was some theoretical urban-planning issue, or tired of people discussing the survival of New Orleans like we somehow deserved the trials of Job over the last three years...you might want to bookmark this page, check in every day this week, and see what your fellow citizens have to tell the world. I know I will.

Because George Will and Maureen Dowd just don't quite cut it any more. Know what I'm sayin'?
