Bachelor in New Orleans

Actor Michael Martin performs as the charming Bachelor in New Orleans, a one-man show developed from an idiosyncratic 1950s tour guide of the French Quarter. In eloquent and picaresque language, the Bachelor expounds on topics of interest to playboy or playgirl visitors, such as, the signature cocktails of the city and Antoines, his favorite restaurant. The Bachelor offers

helpful advice, such as:

Never, never kick garbage cans! Speak kindly to prostitutes. Above all, be nice to your bartender.

As the Bachelor imbibes more cocktails during his 40-minute monologue, his topics turn more esoteric and wistful; including, "loneliness in New Orleans" and Ash Wednesday:

"You know it's Ash Wednesday the moment you wake up. And you vow, never, NEVER to be so naughty again...until next Mardi Gras."

Michael Martin performs weekends at the Hi Ho Lounge, a stage and bar venue on St Claude at Marigny that has presented numerous other Four Humours Theater Company productions.
