We asked the WWL-TV sports team: Which Pelicans player will you be watching this season, and why?
Jrue Holiday: This young All-Star's stats aren't much better than Greivis Vasquez's, but stats don't play the game. Holiday's calm presence could open the floor for Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson if all goes well.
Tyreke Evans. Despite his lowest output in points per game in 2012, his field goal percentage both inside and outside the arc was the best of his career. Without having to shoulder the offensive load, look for Evans to play with a chip on his shoulder to prove he's still that guy.
Eric Gordon, and how he responds to being the third most important player on the court, behind Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis.
Anthony Davis, who I think is closer than many think he is to becoming an NBA superstar. His development is the single most important thing to the long-term success of the franchise, and he's fun to watch.
