The America's WETLAND Foundation, the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Nature Conservancy have announced plans for the World Delta Dialogues conference to be held in New Orleans in October 2010. The international forum, dubbed DELTAS 2010, will host global leaders and scientists developing strategies to create stronger and more sustainable deltas around the world. Attendees will have an opportunity to collaborate and share technologies and resources for solving wetlands crises. Event planners decided Louisiana was a fitting location for the inaugural event because of its endangered wetland ecosystems, which will serve as a model and discussion point for attendees who will engage in discussions concerning climate change, achieving sustainability and the problems facing world deltas.
The America's WETLAND Foundation manages a public education campaign to raise awareness of the impact of Louisiana's wetland loss on the state, nation and world. Visit www.americaswetland.com for more information. — Alex Woodward
