Made by the talented winemaker Kate Goodman, who also styles the popular Punt Road Pinot Noir, Little Rebel has a slightly lighter style and is finely textured. It is made to drink young, but there's greater depth here than appears at first impression. Grapes were sourced from a number of estate vineyards throughout Yarra Valley, contributing varying flavor profiles. After fermentation, the wine was aged 6 to 8 months in seasoned French oak. In the glass, there are enticing aromas of cherry and spice with some pepper notes followed by raspberry, red plum and more of that luscious cherry character. It has soft, even tannins and is a good match for a wide variety of foods, especially tapenade, roast chicken, lamb, pork and cheese. Where to buy it: The Wine Seller, most Sav-A-Centers and Hugh's Wine Cellar in Covington. Where to drink it: Royal China. (Listings current at press time.) Brenda Maitland Questions?
