Wine of the Week

The Veneto, one of three sub regions that comprise the Tre Venezie in northern Italy, is anchored by the majestic, ancient city of Venice, as well as being home to Prosecco, the indigenous varietal used in the eponymous sparkling wine. This wine, one of the few vintage Proseccos to make it to U.S. shores, shows a crisp, dry yet nice fruit character with a bouquet of citrus and floral notes. On the palate look for golden apple, toasted bread crusts, pear and almond flavors. Drink now and over the next 2-3 years. Good as an aperitif or in Bellinis, an Italian favorite of sparkling wine combined with white peach juice. ItÕs always good with shellfish and hors dÕoeuvres. Where to buy it: Vieux Carre Wine and Spirits and DorignacÕs. Where to drink it: Venezia, Red Maple, VincentÕs Italian Restaurant Uptown, TommyÕs Cuisine, TodaroÕs and CafŽ Minh.
