Wine of the Week

When you see a bottle with "imported by Jorge Ordonez" on the label, you know it has to be a good selection, such as this Borsao, which is also a terrific value. Produced in northwestern Spain's tiny Campo de Borja region not far from Rioja, the wine is a blend of 75 percent Garnacha and 25 percent Tempranillo. In the glass, the wine bursts with intense aromas of red berries, cherries and cloves. A richly textured wine, flavors of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry and pepper notes dance on the palate. It's medium-bodied with even tannins and bright acidity. Drink now and over the next 4-5 years. Good with paella, roast lamb, grilled meats, sharp cheese, grilled vegetables and tapas. Where to buy it: Bacchanal, Cork & Bottle, Whole Foods Market and Martin Wine Cellars — Uptown, Metairie and Mandeville. Where to drink it: Lola and Byblos. (Listings current at press time.)
