Wine of the Week

comment
Wines from Spain's early-ripening Tempranillo grapes, planted primarily in the northern half of Rioja - the country's premier wine-producing region -- are characterized by long aging potential and low acidity and alcohol. Although often blended with Garnacha and several other lesser-known grapes, this wine is 100 percent Tempranillo. Aged in light American oak for six months, the wine evinces ripe berry aromas and a whiff of sweet oak with earthy notes on the nose. A well-balanced, good-value wine, Neonato offers flavors of dark cherries, plum and cassis. Splash decanting recommended. Good with paella, red meat, cured ham and pasta with rich sauces. Available at Cork & Bottle, Elio's Wine Warehouse, Dorignac's, Cost Plus World Markets in Elmwood and Harvey, Cellars of River Ridge and Acquistapace's Covington Super Market.
