'The biggest distinguishing [factor] is our sales staff," Alexander says. 'We have seven people with a minimum 15 years experience (each). Some have been with us 40 or more years."
Alexander says Lighting Inc.'s dedicated employees can answer all kinds of questions about home or commercial lighting products and can even help design lighting plans for new buildings.
'We're a place people can come to for help putting together their home design," he says. 'We can lay out house plans and help with lighting designs. We also do commercial projects."
The New Orleans store moved into a location on Earhart Boulevard last year because its building on Tulane Avenue was flooded during Katrina. So far, the new store has served Lighting Inc. employees and customers well.
'It benefits us," Alexander says. 'We're on a busy corridor, and it's a great new facility. There's a lot of parking, which is good because we didn't really have that before. We've also got a more updated showroom. It's much easier to use."
Lighting Inc.'s two stores also sell home decorating accessories such as fans, lampshades, pictures, wall art and mirrors. All of the company's products can be viewed online, where customers can perform detailed product searches and build wish lists.
'We still don't take orders online, but people use [the Web site] a lot," Alexander says. 'They can send their wish list to us and then come in."
Pre-shopping on the company's extensive Web site makes a trip to the showroom more productive. Customers can bring in their wish lists, look over the products, make purchases and take advantage of the company's free delivery " a policy that, according to Alexander, has set Lighting Inc. apart from the beginning. Since Lighting Inc.'s showrooms are some of the largest in the Gulf South, customers are sure to find something to suit their needs at the right price.
