Director Barry Levinson assembled a veteran cast to film an adaptation of producer Art Linson's entertaining memoir about the movie industry. Robert De Niro plays a harried film producer trying to deliver hits amid all the back stabbing and cynicism of Hollywood while also struggling to keep his otherwise normal but messy personal life intact. It is a movie about making movies, and the outlandish stars of two projects he is juggling are played by Bruce Willis and Sean Penn. Neither are strangers to the life of stardom, and each has his moments as a raging parody of the profession's larger-than-life personalities. The cast also includes John Turturro, Stanley Tucci and Catherine Keener. It's another big score for Zeitgeist, which recently brought other major Magnolia releases (Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson and Let the Right One In) and JCVD (Peace Arch Entertainment) to New Orleans for runs of several weeks (Gonzo also appeared in the New Orleans Film Fest). Tickets $7 general admission, $6 students/seniors, $5 Zeitgeist members. — Will Coviello
