The Last Five Years

comment
The Jefferson Performing Arts Society presents a contemporary musical by Tony Award-winning composer and writer Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Songs for a New World), which chronicles the birth and death of a five-year marriage between a writer, Jamie, and an actress, Cathy (based on, some say, the demise of BrownÕs own marriage), as the second production of its 2006 season. Frannie Rosenberg directs New York-based actors Stuart Metcalf and Lisa Anzelmo in their portrayal of a young couple coming to terms with the end of their romance. Jamie tells his side of the story from the beginning and Cathy tells her version from the end, which results in a heartbreakingly funny and universal story of love and loss told through the juxtaposition of the actorsÕ mostly solo songs. A buffet will be served prior to each performance for an additional fee. Tickets $20 general admission, $19 seniors, $12 students/kids. -- Katie Walenter
