Macy's is coming back to the metro area with two stores set to open in November 2008: a remodeled 188,000-square-foot store at The Esplanade in Kenner and a new 228,000-square-foot store at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie. Groundbreaking for the three-level Lakeside store is planned for early November 2007.

Get your pets spayed or neutered at a greatly reduced cost. This month, the Louisiana SPCA, partnering with the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter, announced redeployment of the Dorothy Dorsett Brown Mobile Spay/Neuter Center for pets of qualified residents in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes. Petowners may spay/neuter their pets for $25 per cat and $50 per dog. The fee for feral cats is $10 each. The mobile unit will be parked at the Eastbank Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter three days a week. To schedule an appointment, call 368-5191, ext. 141.

On Thursday, Oct. 11, join Clothesminded (3528 Magazine St., 891-6785; from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. as it celebrates its first year in business. Enjoy complimentary wine, catered refreshments, live music, free chair massages and goodie bags for the first 50 guests. It also will be a good night to shop because almost everything in the store will be discounted.
