UAL (518 Chartres St., 301-4437) is celebrating one year at its French Quarter location. Laissez La Mode Rouler at UAL (Let the fashion roll at UAL) is the theme of the anniversary party: Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be birthday cake, lots of sale items, and "deal or no deal" at the register. You can also sign up for a drawing to win a gift basket that includes Alexa Pulitzer stationery and Lush beauty products as well as goodies from UAL and Urban Angels Salon (4505 Magazine St., 896-5844).

In celebration of Earth Day, Buffalo Exchange (3312 Magazine St., 891-7443; www.buffaloexchange.com) will hold a "$1 Makes the World a Greener Place" sidewalk sale, Saturday, April 21, from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. In the spirit of affordable recycling, there will be racks and racks of clothes priced at $1 per item. All proceeds will benefit the Center for Environmental Health, whose advocacy work encourages companies to adopt greener practices to better protect consumer public health.

On Sunday, April 22, Chico's (5605 Magazine St., 899-1363) will have a "wardrobe party" benefit for Grace House, a United Way agency offering residence and recovery assistance for chemically dependent women. Ten percent of all purchases for the day will go to Grace House. Space is limited, so please call 899-2423, ext. 12 to sign up for either the 4 p.m.-6 p.m. shopping time or the 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. shopping time.
