   A Des Moines Register poll last week gauged potential 2016 presidential nominees according to their popularity in the early-caucus state. The "10 buzzed-about Republicans" in the poll were led by Wisconsin U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan and included several GOP governors: Rick Perry of Texas, Chris Christie of New Jersey and Scott Walker of Wisconsin. Not on the list of 10: Gov. Bobby Jindal, past president of the Republican Governors' Association, who has spent a fair amount of time in Iowa working for other candidates. ...

   Eighteen months after major layoffs at The Times-Picayune, eight former employees filed suit in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging age discrimination in their firings. The workers, all over 45 and nonunionized, said they relied on Advance Publications' longtime company "pledge," which stated employees would never be fired due to economic downturns. The pledge was rescinded in 2010. Talk of a lawsuit had been in the works for more than a year. The Associated Press requested a comment from T-P publisher Ricky Mathews, but didn't get one ...
