R. Scully's Rough 7

There's no one better equipped to capture the boozy, mercurial melancholy of New Year's Eve than R. Scully. A former frontman of the self-denigrating Bywater denizens Morning 40 Federation, Scully now leads the Rough 7, with whom he bellows out raspy wallows over a distinctly Orleanian meld of honky-tonk, bar blues and Replacements-era rock 'n' roll. They share the bill with multi-instrumentalist, playwright and mute-no-more mime Ratty Scurvics, whose Singularity program — a one-man funhouse imbued with the tortured spirits of a thousand carnie-barkers and Off Broadway creations — is now populated by a big band playing out the twisted visions in his head. Think of it as the nightmare after Christmas. Local polka-punk outfit Debauche opens and aptly summarizes the evening. Call club for ticket information. — Noah Bonaparte Pais
