The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is sponsoring a daylong blues festival in Lafayette Square. The line-up includes many top New Orleans blues acts playing a wide variety of blues styles. The main stage features performances by Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters, Snooks Eaglin, Marva Wright and the BMWs, Little Freddie King, Coco Robicheaux, Mem Shannon & the Membership, Rockie Charles and the New Orleans Police Department Blues Band. Also scheduled to appear are Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots, Joe Krown, Johnny Sansone, John Fohl and others. Besides music, there will be food, art and crafts vendors. The event is being held in conjunction with the Walk the Beat fundraiser, a 5K run/walk that leaves the park at 9 a.m. (registration begins at 8 a.m.). Proceeds from the festival and walk will benefit New Orleans Police precincts and will be used to purchase needed equipment. The festival also is supported by the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, Higher Ground Hurricane Relief Fund, Arts Council of New Orleans, Louisiana Division of the Arts and New Orleans Musicians Clinic. Free admission. -- Will Coviello
