Randy Brecker Quintet
Tue. Nov. 19 | Jazz and R&B trumpeter Randy Brecker has worked with everyone from Parliament/Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra. He's currently an artist-in-residence at the University of New Orleans. Derek Douget, James Singleton and Johnny Vidacovich join him for two shows at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro.

Francis Endowed Scholarship fund — celebrates Francis' 45th year as university president with an A-list lineup: soul titans the Commodores, '90s vocal acrobats En Vogue and honorary alum Bill Cosby, just in time for sweater weather. At 8 p.m. at Xavier University.

North Mississippi Allstars
Sat. Nov. 23 | The Southern rock and blues band is a favorite among jam band fans. It released World Boogie Is Coming in September. Fellow Mississippian and sometime bandmember Lightnin' Malcolm opens at 9 p.m. at Tipitina's.
Sun. Nov. 24 | The folk singer and activist isn't on the cutting edge of cultural change like she was when she played the Newport Folk Festival in 1959. But she performed at the festival on the 50th anniversary of that show (and dropped by Occupy Wall Street in 2011). She's at One Eyed Jacks at 8 p.m.
