Is Spray Tanning Safe?

comment
According to the FDA, the substance used in spray-on or mist-on tanning is approved for external application. However, the effects of DHA when inhaled, ingested or transmitted though mucus membranes are still unknown. Since the spray-tanning process usually covers a person’s entire body, including the face, eyes, mouth and nostrils, it is advisable that you hold your breath and close your eyes or wear protective gear like goggles and nose plugs during application.
