Those who are newly diagnosed with diabetes are usually confused by the advice given to them by well meaning friends and relatives. Changing your diet seems like an overwhelming, even impossible, task. Becoming well informed can make it much easier.

Don’t think of this as a diet, per say, but as a change in eating habits. Seeing a registered dietitian who is knowledgeable in diabetes care can help to make it simple and realistic. You don’t have to give up your favorite foods, or even those beloved carbohydrates. Controlling carbohydrates is the key to good blood sugar control.
