There is never a wrong time to pamper your pooch. At Canine Culture in the Riverbend (8110 Hampson St., 373-5141; www.canineculturenola.com), spoiling your Schnauzer is the name of the game.
Designed "for you and the dogs in your life," the store makes finding something special easy with shelves filled with brightly colored toys, leashes, bowls and sweaters. There are accessories for humans, too, and the shop also caters to cat lovers.
Keeping your dog clean has never been easier, thanks to the large, self-wash facility that can handle even the largest of breeds. To add style to your dog's surroundings, there is a new collection of dog beds and accessories from kitschy photographer WilliamWegman and Crypton Fabrics at Canine Culture. These beautiful, durable beds are customizable to fuse with any living space.
A dog lover and rescuer, Deedra Wing started her first venture, Canine Connection (3440 Magazine St., 218-4098; www.canineconnectionnola.com) as a boarding and grooming facility. You also can find a variety of dog food and treats there. That business plans to move to a larger facility this summer at 4920 Tchoupitoulas St., where it will have several playrooms, host birthday parties and more.
The sister stores work with animal shelters in the area by hosting pet adoption days. Check their Web sites for special events and the discounts usually offered during wine tastings, benefits for local shelters and other events.
