Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage

The spirit of the West is in recovery at a rodeo-rider rehabilitation center in the farcical romp Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage. At her remote camp in Wyoming, Big 8 offers healing to cowboys thrown from steeds, bulls and mate's beds. A circus of characters arrive at her door seeking refuge, revenge and lost loves. Even behind the scenes, the play fades into absurdity — credited playwright Jane Martin is presumed to be a pseudonym for a reclusive writer who grants no interviews, accepts no awards and never appears in person. Andrew Elliot directs Benjamin Clement, Leon Contavesprie, Latricia Huston, Molly Maginnis, Mary Pauley and Michael Sullivan. Tickets $20. — Will Coviello
