The Governor's Wife — the "reality" show about former Gov. Edwin Edwards and his wife Trina Scott Edwards — finally will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 9 p.m. on A&E.
Based on an advance viewing of the first episode, it's clear why the network put off the show several times. Turns out there's not much to see — just EWE walking around the couple's Gonzales house while Trina plans a birthday party, gets her hair done, performs at a charity benefit and discusses harvesting her 85-year-old husband's frozen sperm (which he had stored before reporting to prison on felony charges in 2001).
How long has the show been on the shelf? While the people on camera discuss the possibility of Trina having in-vitro fertilization at some point, in real life the Edwardses conceived and had a child, Eli, last August. — KEVIN ALLMAN
