During Carnival, an upscale tavern called Capdeville (520 Capdeville St., 371-5161; opened quietly in the CBD. Found on the one-block street of the same name, it's hard to find but worth seeking out for mid-range meals in a stylish setting. Dishes include hanger steak, pepper jelly-glazed pork with greens, a duck confit club sandwich, impressive burgers and manchego cheese fries, and there is an original cocktail list. Capdeville's owners also operate the nearby bars Loa and LePhare and the music venue the Republic New Orleans.
