For the Foo Fighters
' latest album, due Nov. 10, the band traveled across the country and stopped at its music capitals. In New Orleans, the band recorded at Preservation Hall
— and infamously performed a free concert to a huge crowd
hoping for a glimpse of the band inside the tiny venue. The resulting album is Sonic Highways
, with an upcoming HBO series (premiering Oct. 17) of the same name
. The album art features a bird's eye view of each city.
When combined, the jigsaw-esque album covers — featuring shots of Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Washington, D.C., Seattle, an infinity symbol (also an "8" or a "forever" logo), and New Orleans— form one large image. The Superdome figures prominently in the New Orleans cover, seen at the left.
The album features eight tracks and is available for preorder
