Cane & Table, the Caribbean-inspired, rum-soaked cocktail den helmed by the Cure crew, is moving to accommodate diners looking for a taste of the Islands at midday. The restaurant recently announced that they're debuting a lunch menu beginning this Saturday, February 15th, which will join their current dinner hours and happy hour.

According to managing partner Nick Detrich, "“Back when we were doing the popup at Pravda, we did a brunch service there and it was really nice. With our historic courtyard, it’s really a shame to let it sit there during the day, and especially with so many people out and about in the French Quarter during the weekends. It’s a really pretty space, and we’re excited to debut some new food items and special drink options as well."

Diners can look forward to the new lunch offerings at Cane & Table, which will be a mix of lunch and brunch-type items, including sandwiches, salads, and both small and large plates.

"“The Tortilla Vaska is basically like a six egg Basque omelet that we'll be making with meats or vegetables, and the options will change based on what we’re getting from the farmers markets and what’s available and in season," said Detrich. A lot of the things we serve are meant to be shared, and this is definitely one of them. We coat it with a fried yucca crumble, so it’s crispy, and has a wonderful fluffy egg texture, and it’s also covered with a delicious buttermilk dressing."

Detrich is also particularly excited about a new dessert item, as well. "Chef found a recipe for Haitian pain patate, which was a traditional New Orleans street food sold out of carts around Jackson Square. It’s basically a sweet potato pudding. We’re baking that in a cast iron pot, and it’ll appeal to people who love sweet and savory combinations like French Toast, but it also has a historic foundation in New Orleans."

Lunch at Cane & Table begins this Saturday (Feb. 15th), and will be available every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m, followed by a happy hour from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and then regular dinner service from 5:00 p.m. on.

In other restaurant news, Besh Steak, in Harrah's Casino, will now be offering a special Prix Fixe menu on weeknights. The three-course menu will change monthly, and will feature "seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients."

Carnivores at the casino will likely appreciate February's pre-fixe option, which begins with a blanquette of veal ravioli with carrots, porcini mushrooms and petite mustard greens, followed by a "Korean grilled hanger steak with puffed barley risotto, crispy fried brussels and pickled beet chips," and finished off by a Ponchatoula strawberry shortcake with vanilla whipped cream and a buttermilk biscuit.

Chef Paul Robert's weeknight Prix Fixe menu will be available at dinner Monday through Thursday each week, and costs $40 per person. Besh Steak is located in Harrah's Casino at 8 Canal St, and can be reached at (504) 533-6111.
