Indywood, the new movie theater inside the old Wash-Dry-Fold building at 630 Elysian Fields Avenue in the Marigny, has announced a strong schedule of Louisiana-centric films. Included are five documentaries with Mardi Gras-related themes.
Tonight, Thursday, February 6, through February 9, it's Shreveport-made coming-of-age story Getting Outer Space and The Order of Myths, which explores the history of Mardi Gras krewes in Mobile, Alabama.
February 13 to 16 brings Mardi Gras Made in China, which delves into globalization by tracing the path of Chinese-made Mardi Gras beads, and Cajun Mardi Gras celebration Dance For a Chicken.
On February 21 to 24, it's Les Blank's classic 1978 New Orleans-made Always For Pleasure and Mardi Gras Indians portrait Bury the Hatchet.
