About a dozen filmmakers showed their work at last November's inaugural Open Screen New Orleans, a public event at which aspiring auteurs get the chance to present a ten-minute film or film excerpt before a live audience. The second Open Screen happens tonight, Friday, January 24, at 8 p.m. at Hey! Cafe, 4332 Magazine Street. As conducted by local filmmaker Blake Bertuccelli and Cinema Reset, the Open Screen format allows each filmmaker to briefly introduce a film. Afterwards, the audience takes over for a five-minute discussion period during which the filmmaker is not allowed to speak. This constitutes a rare opportunity for honest feedback for those looking to improve their skills. Rules, requirements, and more info are available here and here. Admission is free.
