  • Samantha Mullen, a poetry whore, sings Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong's "Farewell to Storyville" during the Poetry Brothel's Fringe Festival show.

Tomorrow night the New Orleans Poetry Brothel is summoning all in the wake of the demise of Storyville, for a show featuring judgement, burlesque, acrobats and (of course) poetry at the AllWays Lounge. The doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 10 p.m. The cover is $10.

The poet Geoff Munsterman will give a guest reading from his new book, published by Lavender Ink, Because the Stars Shine Through It. You can buy a poem from a poetry whore for a suggested donation or just watch the show. There will also be stilt-walking and tarot card reading and a plea for justice as Storyville crumbles. (For a full, dramatically-wrought description, visit the brothel's Facebook page.)

If you wear steampunk/Victorian garb you get a free poetry token.
