The 24th Annual New Orleans Film Festival runs from Oct. 10-17 at venues across New Orleans. A grand total of 212 movies will be screened this year ranging from local documentaries to high-profile Hollywood movies and all points in between. The festivities begin on the night of October 10 at the newly renovated Civic Theatre with a screening of Steve McQueen's locally shot 12 Years a Slave, which Hollywood insiders have already deemed the movie to beat at next year's Oscars.
The Festival has become a truly massive undertaking, and navigating the offerings requires skill, dedication, and a little help. A full printed guide to the Festival is included with each printed copy of Gambit this week. Those who live and die by the internet will be pleased to know that a full database — searchable by type of film, director, and venue — is available here. A day-by-day venue-based grid is available here.
