It's no wonder director Eugene Jarecki earned a coveted guest spot on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last fall to discuss his documentary The House I Live In. Jarecki's insightful examination of the 40-year-old War on Drugs is as powerful as any film released in 2012. It's required viewing for anyone interested in understanding the social ills of our era — a time where individuals, corporations, and local governments benefit financially from incarcerating the poor for often minor offenses while drug use in America remains unchanged.
The film ran briefly at Canal Place in early December and will enjoy a well-deserved return engagement at Zeitgeist Movies starting on Wednesday. You can read our full review of the film here.
The House I Live In will screen at Zeitgeist Movies on January 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m., and January 11, 12, and 13 at 5:30 p.m. More info available here.
