Chris Weber thinks "Pelicans" is a terrible team name, forgets he once played for the Wizards

It appears as if the debate over the Hornets name-change isn't going away any time soon. Well, so long as people with terrible memories keep voicing their opinions. Take for instance, Chris Webber (seen above showing off his quick mind). Earlier today, NOLA.com's John Reid reported that Webber said the proposed name of "Pelicans" is "the worst name ever thought of."

Hmm, that's an interesting thought Mr. Webber. I wonder, what would do you know about teams with terrible names?

Uh-huh. Well then, please elaborate.

I think it’s so obvious that nobody would like it if you ask a kid or grown person. It’s not my team, and I thank Mr. Benson for keeping them there so he can name them whatever he wants. But that’s not the toughest name in the world. But hey, every time I go get a haircut at the barbershop, I’ll have something to talk about. I have family there (New Orleans) and I know they hate it and I haven’t even talked to them.

Chris Webber may be a crazy person. Or stupid. Or both. We'd like to think that there are a few legitimate (and some profane) cases in favor of Pelicans. Webber, though, doesn't need to be bothered with these opinions (or apparently, the opinions of his own family) to decide what peoples thoughts are on the Hornets name change. By calling the name Pelicans the "worst ever", Webber has apparently also never heard of the Wizards, Heat, Lightning, Thunder, Magic, Heat, Wild, Blue Jackets, Orioles, Penguins, Browns or Canucks.

There are perfectly legitimate cases against the name Pelicans. This is not one of them.
