Outdoor movie nights at the W French Quarter hotel were once a welcome respite in the summer, as guests immersed themselves in the pool, ordered food from Bacco, then the hotel’s restaurant, and watched Hollywood flicks shown against a courtyard wall. The hotel is reviving that series this month, albeit in December weather and now with food from the restaurant that replaced Bacco’s there, SoBou.
The restaurant will sell snacks like ghost pepper cotton candy, Creole beer nuts, “deluxe” popcorn and grilled donuts and set up a s‘mores roasting station and serve drinks from its extensive bar list. Proceeds from cocktail and food sales benefit the Robin Hood Foundation Relief Fund, which is helping with Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The W French Quarter will also have a drawing to give away a two-night stay at its hotels in Chicago and Atlanta at the screenings.
The movie schedule features “Elf” on Dec. 12 and “Love Actually” on Dec. 19. Both events begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring collapsible chairs and blankets.
