This weekend at the Film Festival: keeping {SCORE}, a sidebar of films about music and musicians

Among the highlights centered around the opening weekend of the 23rd Annual New Orleans Film Festival is a sidebar called keeping {SCORE} that presents seven films about music and musicians. Highlights include True Family, a documentary about local singer Meschiya Lake that screens outdoors at the U.S. Mint; The Girls in the Band, which traces the history of female jazz musicians from the '20s to the present day; and Liquid Land, a film about an art project for which musicians visiting New Orleans built instruments from trash found on local streets, and then invited local musicians to jam.

Each film in the series will be preceded by a live musical performance. Full info on keeping {SCORE} is available here.
