For The Wishing Well (above), Rod Maxwell played every role, created all the elaborate face molds and costumes and shot the creatively filmed piece. It's one of many short films in the New Orleans Children's Film Festival presented by the New Orleans Film Society Saturday and Sunday at the CAC. There are one-to-two hour showcases of short films appropriate for different age groups. See the schedule of showcases and individual films here. There are live action, animated and documentary films. Admission is free.

The festival was originally curated by the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The first children's showcase was shared with New Orleans as a post-Karina gift. This is the fifth year of the New Orleans Children's Film Festival.
